About this scholarship

Established in 2000 by St John of God Health Care (Ballarat) to celebrate the contribution of Sister Cecily Dunne SJG who was the principal nurse educator of the School of Nursing, St John of God Hospital, Ballarat from 1971 until it closed in 1990.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to current ACU students who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Faculty: Health Sciences
  • Course: Bachelor of Nursing (including dual degrees)
  • Campus: Ballarat
  • Year level: third year

 

Application process

Applications will be required to provide the following as part of the application:

  • A written statement of approximately 200 words outlining:
    • why you have chosen to undertake your degree
    • what you hope to achieve with it in the future
  • Written reference (academic or professional)

 

Selection criteria

Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:

  • Written statement
  • Written reference
  • Academic merit

 

Selection process

Applications will be shortlisted by the Scholarships Office and a recipient selected by the donor and a representative of the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine at the Ballarat Campus.
  

Ongoing requirements

Recipients will be requested to submit an impact statement for the donor explaining how the scholarship has assisted them. The letter should be submitted to the Scholarships Office no later than 1 October in the year that the scholarship is awarded.

We want to assist the recipient of this scholarship with a discounted accommodation option for each of our campuses in Ballarat. We are offering a private room in a managed residential house at $20 off per week which adds up to a saving of $1400 over the year.
