Established as an ACT Government initiative, this scholarship supports students in nursing or allied health courses, based at ACU’s Canberra campus.

Value
- This scholarship is valued up to $9,000 to be paid in instalments of $1,500 per semester for a maximum duration of three years. A pro-rata (partial) payment is calculated for enrolment in less than 40 credit points per semester.

Eligibility
This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all the following criteria:
- Citizenship: domestic
- Campus: Canberra (on campus)
- Faculty: Health Science
- Course: enrolled in one of the following in Semester 1, 2024:
- Bachelor of Nursing
- Bachelor of Nursing (Enrolled Nurses)
- Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Paramedicine
- Bachelor of Social Work
- Master of Social Work (Qualifying)
- Meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
- From a low socio-economic background
- From a regional, rural, or remote location
- Financial need or hardship
- Academic merit
- Recipients who are already in receipt of the ACT Government Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship are not eligible to reapply.
Application process
Depending on which criteria applicants are applying for, applicants will be required to provide one or more of the following:
- A written statement of approximately 200 words outlining:
- any financial need, hardship or barriers you have faced in accessing higher education
- how this scholarship could financially support you and your studies.
- Evidence to support financial need, hardships or barriers as outlined in your written statement (evidence may include but is not limited to medical documents, rent statements, property leases and eviction notices, Centrelink statements)
- Upload Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander status (for more information on this requirement, please visit, COA)
- Evidence of your regional, rural or remote address.
- Evidence of academic merit from your most recent studies (applies to future students only)
- ATAR or equivalent; or
- academic transcript (including GPA)
Selection criteria
Applications are assessed based on the strength of how applicants meet any one or more of the following criteria:
- Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
- From a low socio-economic background
- From a regional, rural, or remote location
- Financial need or hardship
- Academic merit
Selection process
Applicants will be shortlisted by the Scholarships Office, and the recipients will be determined by a selection committee. The committee will be composed of representatives from the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Ongoing Requirements
To remain eligible for this scholarship, recipients are required to maintain the following each semester for the duration of the scholarship:
- Remain enrolled at ACU’s Canberra campus in the same course under which the scholarship was received.
