About this scholarship

The ACU Arts, Theology & Philosophy Honours Scholarships are for those who plan to study an honours program at ACU after completing their bachelor's degree either at ACU or at another institute. This scholarship supports students as they learn research skills from some of ACU’s most accomplished researchers.

  • This scholarship is valued at up to $10,000, to be paid in instalments of $5,000 per semester. A pro-rata (partial) payment is calculated for part-time enrolment.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to students who meet all the following criteria: 

  • Course one of the following:
    • Bachelor of Theology (Honours)
    • Bachelor of Arts (Honours)
  • Commencing semester: must be commencing in one of the above courses in either Semester 2, 2025 or in Semester 1, 2026
  • Student type is one of the following: 
    • Completed (or due to complete in 2025) an undergraduate degree at an external institute (a university other than ACU), OR 
    • ACU Alumni who have completed an undergraduate degree at ACU in 2024 or prior. 


Application process

Applicants will be required to complete the following as part of the application:

  1. Select a project from the available topics listed on the Project Page.
  2. Contact an eligible supervisor to discuss the chosen project and obtain their endorsement via the Application Form.
  3. Submit the supervisor endorsed application form using the 'Apply' button at the top of this page.

If you completed your bachelor’s degree outside ACU, you would also need to upload a copy of your transcript.


Selection criteria

Applications are assessed on the strength of the following criteria: 

  • Undergraduate GPA
  • Relevance of the undergraduate degree

Selection process

The recipients will be selected by the Scholarship Office in consultation with the Deputy Provost and Dean of Graduate Research. 


Ongoing requirements

To remain eligible for this scholarship, recipients are required to maintain the following each semester for the duration of the scholarship: 

  • Enrolment in the same course under which the scholarship was received
  • Minimum Pass grade for all units in which they were enrolled in the previous study period


Disclaimer

Recipients of the honours scholarship fund shall have vested right in the award of the scholarship and shall not suffer any disadvantage should they change supervisor, or the proposed supervisor becomes unavailable, or the project does not go ahead, provided that the recipients meet the minimum academic criteria set forth in the award to maintain the scholarship and that they do not commit any misconduct in violation of ACU’s policy on students.
