About this scholarship
The ACU Centre for Liturgy Postgraduate Scholarship was established in 2016 to enable a postgraduate theology student with a demonstrated ongoing interest in liturgical studies and/or sacramental theology to study one 500-level or 600-level unit in liturgy or sacraments at ACU.

- This scholarship is awarded as a tuition fee waiver, equivalent to the current tuition fee for one 500-level or 600-level unit of study in liturgy or sacramental theology at ACU.

Eligibility
This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all the following criteria, or expect to by the scholarship application date:
- Enrolment in Semester 1, 2025
- Citizenship: domestic
- Faculty: Theology and Philosophy
- Course: the GCTS (Liturgy) or GDTS (Liturgy) any ACU theology Masters course
- Enrolment in a Liturgy and/or sacraments 500-level or 600-level unit
- Demonstrated an ongoing interest in the fields of liturgy and sacraments through prior studies and engagement in ministry and/or formation activities.
Application process
Applicants will be required to provide the following as part of the application:
- Written statement* of approximately 300 words outlining:
- your ongoing interest in liturgical studies or sacramental theology.
- your previous or current engagement in liturgical/sacramental ministry or formation activities in your local parish or school community and your intended ongoing engagement in such activities.
- your previous study in liturgy or sacramental theology and/or intended future study in these discipline areas (e.g. units studied, previous or future certificates/diplomas or degrees).
- Evidence of academic merit from your most recent studies (applies to future students only)
- ATAR or equivalent; or
- academic transcript (including GPA)
- Letter of reference from your Parish Priest
- Your reference should be written by a priest who knows you well and can attest to your interest and involvement in liturgy and/or sacraments, and your character and activities. The reference should be written on an official letterhead and must include the title, position, and contact details of the referee.

Selection criteria
Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:
- Written statement
- Academic merit
- Letter of reference from your parish priest
- Commitment to the fields of liturgy and sacraments.
Preference will be given to students with a GPA of 5.0 or above (on the ACU seven-point scale or equivalent).
Selection process
Applications will be shortlisted by the Scholarships Office and a recipient selected by a selection committee comprised of the Director of the ACU Centre for Liturgy and a member of the ACU Centre for Liturgy Board of Advisers.
Other
Recipients will be requested to:
- Submit an Impact Statement for the donor explaining how the scholarship has assisted them. This should be submitted to the ACU Scholarships Office no later than 1 October in the year the scholarship is awarded
- Promote and support the work of the ACU Centre for Liturgy by participating in promotional activities pertaining to the awarding of the scholarship (i.e, participating in an informal interview and providing a photograph for publicity purposes).
