About this scholarship
Established in 1994 as a tangible memorial to the life and contribution of Anne Lyons (nee Byrne), a scholar, wife and teacher who died of cancer in 1987 at the age of 42 and whose prevailing passion was the study and pursuit of social justice in Australia. The Scholarship is intended to financially assist students to travel overseas in order to carry out research into an area of social justice.

Eligibility
This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria, as of the scholarship closing date:
- Target group: students undertaking overseas study
- Course: any undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree
- Year level: final year (in 2025)
- Plan to undertake overseas study in the year that the scholarship is awarded.
Application process
Applicants will be required to provide the following as part of the application:
- A written statement* of approximately 100 words outlining why you are planning to undertake this travel and what you hope to gain from it.
- Budget estimate outlining all expenses relating to overseas study.
- Letter of recommendation (academic)
- Evidence of overseas enrolment or offer.

Selection process
The recipient will be selected by the Scholarships Office.
Other
Recipients will be requested to submit an Impact Statement for the donor explaining how the scholarship has assisted them. This should be submitted to the ACU Scholarships Office no later than 1 October in the year the scholarship is awarded.
