About this scholarship

Established in 2022, the Bank First Victoria Nursing and Aged Care Scholarship is open to undergraduate students (from second year onwards) undertaking the Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Paramedicine or the Bachelor of Nursing (ENDN) at ACU’s Ballarat campus.

The intention of the scholarship is to assist students to meet the expenditures related to attending their Professional Practice Experience, accommodation, travel and living expenses. 

The scholarship has been created to enable students to fully embrace learning opportunities when on Professional Practice Experience.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to those who meet all the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: domestic 
  • Faculty: Health Sciences 
  • Courses: Enrolled in one of the following courses:
    • Bachelor of Nursing
    • Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Paramedicine
  • Campus: Ballarat
  • Study load: Full-time (minimum of 30cps per semester)
  • Year level: Second year or above (as of Semester 1, 2024) 
  • Requires assistance to meet the expenditures related to attending their Professional Practice Experience in either Semester 1 or Semester 2 2024, such as accommodation, travel and living expenses.

 

Application process

Applicants will be required to provide the following as part of the application:

  • A written statement of approximately 300 words outlining: 
    • what you have to offer and what you will potentially learn from your Professional Practice Experience.
    • the barrier/s you face meeting the expenditures related to attending your Professional Practice Experience, such as accommodation, travel and living expenses and how this scholarship will make a difference.
    • the strategies you would employ to manage attending your Professional Practice Experience away from home. 

 

Selection criteria

Applications are assessed on the strength of the following criteria:

  • Written statement including how this scholarship will help you financially
  • Academic merit (based on your ACU GPA)
      

Selection process

The recipient will be selected by the Scholarships Office.

 

Ongoing requirements

To remain eligible for this scholarship, recipients are required to maintain the following each semester for the duration of the scholarship:

  • Minimum Pass grade for at least two-thirds of credit points in which they were enrolled in the previous study period.
  • Full-time enrolment
  • Enrolment in the same course under which the scholarship is received.


Other

  • Recipients are encouraged to submit an Impact Statement for the donor explaining how the scholarship has assisted them. This should be submitted to the ACU Scholarships Office no later than 1 October in the year the scholarship is awarded.
  • Bank First may like to publish or promote the scholarship recipient’s story on internal ACU and external social media platforms. For privacy reasons, ACU will never send personal scholarship recipient information to Bank First. If Scholarship recipients would like to provide a photo of themselves to Bank First for this purpose, there will be an opportunity to upload a photo for this purpose.
