About this scholarship

The Council of Catholic School Parents (CCSP) is the peak body representing the interests of Catholic school parents in NSW/ACT and is the largest non-government school parent body in NSW. Established in 2016, the scholarship is awarded to students undertaking an Education course and who demonstrate interest in parental engagement within Catholic schools.

Eligibility

Applications are open to current those who meet all the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: domestic
  • Faculty: Education and Arts
  • Course: any ACU Education degree
  • Campus: North Sydney, Strathfield or Blacktown
  • Year level: final year of course in 2025
  • Study load: full-time in Semester 1, 2025

 

Application process

Applicants will be required to provide the following as part of the application:

  • A written statement* of approximately 400 words outlining:
    • Your passion and strategies for engaging parents in their child's learning journey.
    • Why you think encouraging parental engagement is an important aspect of teaching. 
    • Why you have chosen to undertake your degree. 
    • Your interest in teaching in either a Catholic Primary or High School, and what you would bring to this role.
  • (If relevant) evidence of your regional, rural or remote NSW address as classified by the ASGS Remoteness Areas (2021)

 *Statements are assessed on content, not language skills. If you access assistance from advisors, tutors or AI technology to complete your personal statement, please ensure that your submission accurately reflects your personal situation with regards to the criteria.


Selection criteria

Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:

  • Written statement
  • Academic merit (based on current ACU GPA)

 Preference will be given to applicants who currently live, or have previously lived in a regional, rural or remote area of NSW.


Selection process

The recipient will be selected by the Scholarships Office.

 

Other

  • The recipient will be requested to submit an Impact Statement for the donor explaining how the scholarship has assisted them. The letter should be submitted to the Scholarships Office no later than 1 October in the year that the scholarship was awarded.
  • Recipients will be invited to an ACU presentation event and are requested to attend if this does not impede placement or study commitments. If unable to attend they will be requested to assist in offering a profile and photograph for the donor newsletter. 
  • The donor may request the student profile and photograph to be used in additional promotional material such as the Council of Catholic School Webpage and Annual Report at which time we will seek the recipient’s permission to include.
