Established in 2019 by Mrs Maria Magda Damo, this scholarship is designed to assist students experiencing financial disadvantages.

- This scholarship is valued at up to $9,000 for students in a three-year course and $3,000 for students in a one-year course, to be paid in instalments of $1,500 per semester.

Eligibility
This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria, by the scholarship application close date:
- Citizenship: domestic
- Course: Semester 1, 2025 enrolment in one of the following courses:
- Bachelor of Theology/Bachelor of Philosophy
- Bachelor of Philosophy/Bachelor of Laws
- Master of Philosophy
- Doctor of Philosophy
- Diploma of Languages
- Any Graduate Diploma level or higher course within the School of Theology.
Application process
Applicants will be required to provide the following as part of the application:
- Written statement* of approximately 300 words outlining:
- your reasons for choosing your field of study.
- how this scholarship could support you in your studies.
- Evidence of financial hardship:
- Most recent Tax Assessment Notice OR
- Centrelink Income Statement OR
- the most recent 60 days of bank transactions AND pay slips from the last 6 weeks
*Statements are assessed on content, not language skills. If you access assistance from advisors, tutors or AI technology to complete your personal statement, please ensure that your submission accurately reflects your personal situation with regards to the criteria.
Selection criteria
Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:
- Written statement
- Financial need
Preference will be given to students enrolled at the Canberra campus and to students studying Italian language subjects at the University.
Selection process
The recipient will be selected by the Scholarships Office.
Ongoing requirements
To remain eligible for this scholarship, recipients are required to maintain the following each semester for the duration of the scholarship:
- Minimum Pass grade for at least two-thirds of credit points in which they were enrolled in the previous study period
- Enrolment in one of the following courses:
- Bachelor of Theology/Bachelor of Philosophy
- Master of Philosophy
- Doctor of Philosophy
- Diploma of Languages
- Any Graduate Diploma level or higher course within the School of Theology.
Other
Recipients will be requested to submit an Impact Statement for the donor explaining how the scholarship has assisted them. This should be submitted to the ACU Scholarships Office no later than 1 October each year.
