About this scholarship
The David Grabovac Family Scholarship is an endowed scholarship that supports ACU students undertaking studies in education and professional formation. It assists promising students as they begin their academic journey and encourages the next generation of dedicated educators and community leaders. Guided by service and educational excellence, the scholarship helps recipients pursue their vocation with confidence and serve others through teaching, leadership, and community engagement.

Eligibility
This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all the following criteria:
- Citizenship: domestic
- Faculty: Education
- Course:
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary)
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary)/Bachelor of Arts (Humanities)
- Campus: Strathfield
- Study load: full-time
- Financial hardship
- Contribution to, and/or leadership in community service
Application process
Applicants will be required to provide the following as part of the application:
- A written statement* of approximately 250 words outlining:
- the hardship or barriers you have faced in accessing higher education, and
- how your degree will change your future
- Evidence of financial need, this can be any of the following:
- Most recent Tax Assessment Notice
- Centrelink Income Statement
- The most recent 60 days of bank transactions AND pay slips from the last 6 weeks
- Evidence of your contribution to community service. This can be through a letter of recommendation or a certificate of participation.
* Statements are assessed on content, not language skills. If you access assistance from advisors, tutors or AI technology to complete your personal statement, please ensure that your submission accurately reflects your personal situation with regards to the criteria.
Selection criteria
Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:
- Written statement
- Financial need
- Contribution to and/or leadership in community service.
Selection process
The recipient will be selected by the Scholarships Office.
Other
- Recipients will be requested to submit an Impact Statement for the donor explaining how the scholarship has assisted them. The letter should be submitted to the ACU Scholarships Office no later than 1 October in the year the scholarship is awarded.
- Recipients will be invited to an ACU presentation event and are requested to attend if this does not impede placement or study commitments.
- Recipients will be required to participate in promotional activities, including providing a profile and photograph for the Donor’s newsletter, website, annual report, social media, and additional promotional materials, at which time we will seek the recipient’s permission to include.
