About this Scholarship

The Edmund Rice Education Australia and St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace Equity Scholarship aims to improve participation in higher education by students who have encountered physical, social or financial barriers to education.

  • This scholarship valued at up to $15,000, paid as one instalment per semester, $2,500 per semester is available for a three-year program and $1,875 per semester is available for a four or five-year program.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Commencing ACU course in Semester 1, 2025
  • Citizenship: domestic
  • Course: any ACU undergraduate degree
  • Campus: Brisbane

 

Application process

Applicants will be required to provide the following as part of the application:

  •  A written statement* of approximately 500 words outlining:
    • the reason for choosing your course
    • your long-term career goals
    • how the scholarship could financially support you in your studies.
    • how the scholarship could assist you in making a contribution to their local/professional community
  • Two letters of recommendation. These letters must be from two different sources. Letters of recommendation must also include the title and/or position and contact details of the person providing the letter.

*Statements are assessed on content, not language skills. If you access assistance from advisors, tutors or AI technology to complete your personal statement, please ensure that your submission accurately reflects your personal situation with regards to the criteria.

  

Selection criteria

Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:

  • Written statement
  • Letters of recommendation
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are physically, socially, and/or economically disadvantaged, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, and students from rural and regional areas

  

Selection process

The recipient will be selected by the Scholarships Office.

 

Ongoing requirements

To remain eligible for this scholarship, recipients are required to maintain the following each semester for the duration of the scholarship:

  • a minimum Pass grade for at least two-thirds of credit points in which they were enrolled in the previous study period


Other

Recipients will be requested to submit an Impact Statement for the donor explaining how the scholarship has assisted them. This should be submitted to the ACU Scholarships Office no later than 1 October each year.
