About this scholarship

Freemasons Foundation Victoria invests in programs and initiatives that are expected to provide stronger and healthier communities and supports the youth of Victoria to achieve their educational goals. For Freemasons, greatness in life is measured by deed, character, charity, trust and the positive effect one leaves on this world through generosity of spirit.

The Freemasons Foundation Scholarship aims to support access to higher education for students from rural, regional and remote backgrounds.

Future or Commencing Students

 

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to those who will meet all of the following criteria:

  • Commencing a new ACU course in Semester 1, 2024 
  • Citizenship: domestic
  • Campus: Ballarat or Melbourne
  • Study load: full-time
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Live (or have lived) in a regional, rural or remote address as classified by the Rural, Remote and Metropolitan Area (RRMA)

 

Application process

Applicants will be required to provide the following as part of the application:

  • A written statement of approximately 300 words outlining:
    • The challenges you have experienced, or may face in undertaking study due to financial circumstances
    • How living in a regional, rural or remote location has impacted your ability to access education.
  • Evidence of your regional, rural or remote address, for example; 
    • driver’s licence
    • lease agreement
    • official letter sent to you at your residence (utility bills, government letters, bank statements)
  • Evidence of financial circumstances, for example;
    • most recent Tax Assessment Notice
    • Centrelink Income Statement
    • the most recent 60 days of bank transactions AND pay slips from the last 6 weeks
    • Concession Card
    • Health Care Card


Selection criteria

Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated financial need.
  • Impact of living in a regional, rural or remote location.


Selection process

The recipients will be selected by the Scholarships Office. 

 

Other

  • Recipients will be requested to submit an Impact Statement for the donor explaining how the scholarship has assisted them. This should be submitted to the ACU Scholarships Office no later than 1 October in the year the scholarship is awarded.
  • Recipients will be invited to a presentation event and are requested to attend if this does not impede placement or study commitments.
