Established in 2014, the Gill Family Scholarship supports nursing or midwifery students on the Ballarat and Melbourne campus’ who require financial assistance to study.

Eligibility
This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria:
- Citizenship: domestic
- Campus: Melbourne or Ballarat
- Course: any ACU nursing or midwifery degree
- Study load: full-time
- Year level: second year or above (as of Semester 1, 2025)
- Contributions to community service and/or social justice
- Financial hardship
Application process
Applicants are required to provide the following as part of the application:
- A written statement* of approximately 250 words outlining:
- how this scholarship could financially support you and your studies.
- how your intended degree will potentially benefit you in your future career aspirations.
- A letter of recommendation or other evidence addressing your contribution to community activities and/or social justice.
- Evidence of financial hardship:
- most recent Tax Assessment Notice; or
- Centrelink Income Statement; or
- the most recent 60 days of bank transactions AND pay slips from the last 6 weeks
* Statements are assessed on content, not language skills. If you access assistance from advisors, tutors or AI technology to complete your personal statement, please ensure that your submission accurately reflects your personal situation with regards to the criteria.

- Financial hardship
Selection process
The recipient will be selected by the Scholarships Office.
Other
- Recipients will be requested to submit an Impact Statement for the donor explaining how the scholarship has assisted them. This should be submitted to the ACU Scholarships Office no later than 1 October in the year the scholarship is awarded.
- Recipients will also be invited to a presentation event and are requested to attend if this does not impede placement or study commitments.
