About this scholarship

The scholarship is established in honour of Mrs Sally Kozuh, who was passionate about educating young people and the visual arts. 

This scholarship is open to a Sydney-based, School of Arts student to undertake a school-led international study unit in the visual arts area to broaden their horizons. It is intended to assist a student financially, to participate in an ACU international experience in one or more of the world’s most famous artistic hubs including Rome, Venice, and Paris.

Eligibility

This scholarship is open to applicants who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: domestic 
  • Campus: North Sydney, Strathfield or Blacktown Campus 
  • Course: enrolled in one of the following courses
    • Bachelor of Arts
    • Bachelor of Arts Major in Visual Arts
    • Bachelor of Creative Arts
    • Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design
    • Bachelor of Education (Secondary)/Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts)
    • Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts) 
  • Year level: Second or Third Year of study (as of Semester 1 2025)
  • Undertaking an overseas Short-Term International Study Experiences (STISE) units related to visual arts, HUMA252, HUMA253, ARTS338, or equivalent units Arts History of Visual Arts Practice at the Rome Campus
  • Minimum cumulative GPA: 5.0 (on the ACU seven-point scale across all ACU undergraduate studies).

 

Application process

Applicants will be required to provide the following as part of the application:

  • A written statement* of approximately 300 words outlining:
    • Why have you chosen to undertake your degree.
    • How undertaking this travel would help you in your future career.
    • What you hope to gain from this experience.
  • Letter of recommendation (academic or art practice)

  *Statements are assessed on content, not language skills. If you access assistance from advisors, tutors or AI technology to complete your personal statement, please ensure that your submission accurately reflects your personal situation with regards to the criteria.


Selection criteria

Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:

  • Academic merit (based on current ACU GPA)
  • Written statement
  • Letter of recommendation

  

Selection process

The recipient will be selected by the Scholarships Office.


Other

  • Recipients will be requested to submit an Impact Statement for the donor each year, explaining how the Scholarship has assisted them. The statement should be submitted to the Scholarships Office no later than 1 October in the year the scholarship is awarded.
  • Recipients will be invited to a presentation event and are requested to attend if this does not impede placement or study commitments.
